Pre-medications are medicines we use, often the night before and the morning of, some of our veterinary visits. Â They are often used to keep a pet comfortable and calm to promote a fear free visit!
Gone are the days of wrangling your dog or cat to trim their nails or take an x-ray! Â This is not good for pets or good for people. Â It makes all of our anxiety high and can even influence some diagnostic tests like urine and blood samples and blood pressure. Â It takes longer and makes the next visit even more stressful and less safe.
Lucky for us, we have a lot of nice and safe options you can give at home in order to help calm your pet if they are prone to stress at the vet clinic! Â These can range from herbal options to pharmaceuticals. Â Sometimes it can take some time to find the right medicinal fit, the right dose and the right approach. Â But our patience pays off when we can turn your pet from running for the hills to running to our treatment area!
Below is some information on fear free.
